Mother Teresa – An Example Of A Great Leader
All of us have someone we admire, be it our mom, grandfather, singer etc. Some people may not have the best leadership skills, but may be the best examples of leaders. Mother Teresa makes a wonderful example of an effective leader. Mother Teresa was a woman of selflessness who did her best to help others. Mother Teresa is a woman of selflessness who was born August 27, 1910 in Shkup which today is called Skopje. Mother Teresa, the youngest of her three siblings, lived with both her mother and father. She was raised in a happy and comfortable environment. Her older siblings were Aga and Lazar.
Mother Teresa was raised as a Roman Catholic. She has been deeply devoted since childhood to her faith. Mother Teresa’s father was murdered by someone when she was just nine years old. This was a difficult time, but Mother Teresa came out stronger. Instead of denying her faith, she became more devoted to it. Mother Teresa’s faith grew and she joined the Sisters of Loreto at age 18. Before she was allowed to travel to India, Mother Teresa had to master English. After a year of studying English at Loretto Abbey, she returned to Ireland and spent the next year working as a missionary in Darjeeling. Mother Teresa began working as a Missionary Worker in Darjeeling India about a month after she returned from Ireland. Mother Teresa spent many years learning the Bengali dialect, which later she taught in the Loreto Abbey Rathfarnham School, located in eastern Calcutta.
Mother Teresa chose Teresa as her name when she was 36 years old. The vows, taken from Jesus Christ’s evangelical counsels, are those of poverty, obedience and chastity. After a number of years, Mother Teresa was promoted to the position of headmistress for a Calcutta-based school. Mother Teresa had a wonderful leadership style. But, before I describe how she did it, let’s first define what she was. Mother Teresa seems to live by this definition. No matter how difficult the situation may seem, she will always put others’ needs before her own.
Mother Teresa, despite not being the wealthiest person in the world, spent all her energy and time helping people who were in need. Mother Teresa helped create over 4,000 missionaries. Mother Teresa always helped people regardless of whether they were homeless, sick, etc. She did not care if she got sick from helping others. When she saw how people were suffering, instead of cracking, she became more determined to be a better person. She wanted to help others using God’s word, be a positive person, spread joy, be selfless, etc. Mother Teresa, in theory, is a wonderful person. She was strengthened in her faith by her life’s challenges, such as losing her father. Instead of putting her own needs before others, Mother Teresa puts them before herself by using God to spread God’s word. She also uses her as a way to show others God’s love and generosity. Mother Teresa’s blessing is in disguise. Mother Teresa was a woman of selflessness who did her best to help those in need.
